CEDAR BLUFF, Va — William (Bill) Newberry, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home. Born March 8, 1933 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Reece and Ada Newberry. He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA District 20.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lela Null, Frances Mallory and Clara Simmons; and two brothers, Herman Newberry and Curtis Newberry.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joe Ann Newberry; his children, Mary Ann Davis and Randy of Pulaski, Va., Lois Street and Gene Helton of Baptist Valley, Va., Kenneth Newberry and Shelia Bandy of Bandy, Va., Keith Newberry and Tina of Paintlick, Va. and Kay Rasnake and Gene of Maxwell, Va.; one stepson, Danny Ray Chapman of Pulaski, Va.; one sister, Virginia Craig of Steelesburg, Va.; grandchildren, R.J. Davis, Ashley Davis, Toni Roberts, Samantha O’Quinn, Alexis Paige Newberry, Brandi Newberry and Brandon Newberry; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with the Rev. Charlie McGlothlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Kendall O’Quinn, Nathan Roberts, R.J. Davis, Rusty Calhoun, David Crockett and Wes Harlow.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
