LONG BEACH, Calif. —
Margaret Dinta Archie, 93, of Long Beach, Calif. was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
Born February 14, 1920 in Lewisburg, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Lucious and Mary Felious. She was a graduate of Excelsior High School in Excelsior, W.Va. After high school she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and later to Compton, Calif. and then made her home in Long Beach, Calif. In April of 2011 she moved to Palmcrest Grand Assisted Living.
Mrs. Archie was retired from the city of Long Beach, Calif. as a Library Clerk III. A devout Christian, Margaret was a member of the Christian Life Church in Long Beach and later attended the Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church in Long Beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Archie; and six siblings, Pearl Oakes, Madeline North, Lucious Felious, Solomon Tate, Willie Tate, and Eddie L. Marshall.
Survivors include one nephew, James F. Marshall and wife Mary of Dover, Del.; three nieces, Mildred Johnson, Elizabeth Hughes and husband Thomas, and Ernestine McCoy all of Newark, N.J.; a devoted godson, Byron Biggers of Long Beach, Calif.; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2013 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Greg Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Littlesburg Road, Bluefield. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
