BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Born April 4, 1932 in Northfork, WV to the late Charles and Lou Verna Hart, (Turman ).
Mabel married William Paul Fern Jr. in 1953 and had 2 children, Mark and Kimberly. Mabel married Carl Irvin in 1978.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents Charles Hart and Lou Verna Hart (Turman); 3 brothers James Hart, Roger Hart and Herbert Hart. Her first husband William Paul Fern Jr. as well as her second husband Carl Irvin.
She is survived by son, William Mark Fern and wife Nancy of Summerville, SC and daughter Kimberly Duesing and husband Steven of Bluefield, VA. Step-sons Charles Irvin and wife Pam of Tazewell, VA. Kenny Irvin of Conway, SC. Grandchildren, David Fern of Winchester, VA, Stacey Laing and husband Chris of Summerville, SC., Christopher Fern and wife Revital of Fairfax, VA., Stephanie Duesing and Blake Duesing of Bluefield, VA. Step-grandson Matthew Irvin and wife Anna of Witten Valley, VA., Great Grandchildren Michael Laing and Peyton Fern.
Special friends and family Sue Colman, Von Collins, Mabel’s sister–in-law, Dr. Schor and staff, Dr. Shimm and staff, and Legacy Hospice.
She worked at Kresge’s in Bluefield, WV for almost 20 years. She managed Fern Hardware in Pocahontas, VA and retired from JC Penney’s in 1994. Mabel was a member of the Fincastle Church of God, later in life she attended Destiny Outreach ministries with her family. Mabel’s faith in God was evident to everyone around her.
Service to celebrate the life of Mabel Irvin will be held Friday June 27, 2014 at 12 pm at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Steven Branch officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday June 27, 2014 from 11 am till hour of service.
