Dorothy Jean Bevins

BLUEFIELD, Va — A “spitfire” at times and humble at others, Dorothy Jean Bevins, 86, wife of the late and much loved Robert Bevins, of Bluefield, VA. began her new journey Wednesday, August 14, 2013 a little after 6 a.m. She was called home after a brief illness while in Golden Age Retirement Home, Cedar Bluff, VA. Born June 7, 1927 in Hardy, Pike Co., KY to the late Thomas Bryan Cleghon and Elizabeth Hammond Cleghon.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert “Jabo” Bevins, Jr., her brother, Bobby Jarrett Cleghon and her sister, Edith Marie “Sis” Ray.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Derenda G. Hagy and husband, William “Bill” Hagy, of Rosedale, VA; her daughter-in-law, Lynda Sue (Morrison) Bevins, of Richlands, VA; two brothers, Ervin “Dickie” Richard Cleghon, and wife, Bernice of Huddy, KY and Bryan Thomas Cleghon, and wife Ann, of Rushville, OH and her sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Browning, of Bedford, KY. She has two grandsons, Bryan A. Bevins, and wife, Tracy, of Laurens, SC, Greg T. Bevins, and companion Leanna Wade; and  a granddaughter, Tracy L. (Tibbs) Evans and husband, MSgt. Jason Charles Evans (USAF). Dorothy has four great grandchildren, Ethan Bevins, Morgan Evans, Briley Bevins and Landon Anders.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held afterwards beginning at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Hagy officiating. Internment will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Family will serve as pallbearers.

Dudley Memorial Mortuary is serving the Bevins family.
