Thomas Lee Bowles

OCALA, Fla. — Thomas Lee Bowles, 91, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Pineville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born January 18, 1921, at Kimball, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Margaret Bowles. Mr. Bowles was a graduate of Welch High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving with both the Army and the Army-Air Force.

He was a former coal miner having worked at Trailee mines. Upon moving to Florida, he worked at the space center at Cape Canaveral while the Apollo Space program was in operation. He then began work for the Department of Labor (OSHA), helping to establish the first office operation in Florida. Mr. Bowles traveled throughout the country working and conducting workshops for OSHA.

In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring Ford Mustang's and was an avid coin collector. Mr. Bowles was a member of the AF & AM Lodge No. 138 of Pineville and the Valley of Orlando in Orlando, Fla. and was a Shriner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his loving and devoted wife of 72 years, Geneva Marie Morgan Bowles, who died on June 10, 2012; he was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Bowles along with his three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandy Mozert of Ocala, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tami Davis, Scott Mullens, Lari Lee Lantz; one great-granddaughter, Caiden Lee; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 23, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ed Pettus officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
