RUSTON, La. — Lucille Duggan

RUSTON, La. — Lucille Duggan, age 91, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Ruston, Louisiana. She was formerly a long-time resident of Princeton, W.Va.

Born September 17, 1921 in Pickens County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Clemar E. Fann and Daisy S. Pendley. She was a 1937 graduate of Pickens County High School and the Gainesville Cosmetology School, in 1939. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John Edwin Duggan, Sr., daughter, Betty Ann Duggan, two brothers, Floyd and Stanton Fann, and by two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Goforth and Mrs. Pauline Gilbert.

She was the retired owner and operator of The Donut Shop, which was located on Mercer Street in Princeton, where no one went hungry regardless of ability to pay. Prior to her time in Princeton, she operated a grocery store in Green Valley, W.Va., managed a peacock farm in Alachua County, Fla., and was a military aircraft fuselage mechanic while stationed at Warner Robins AFB during World War II. She was a devoted member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Princeton for many years.

She is survived by her children, John Edwin Duggan, Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Calhoun, La.; and Linda Brownholtz and husband, William, of Beverly Hills, Fla.; brother, Olin Fann, Jasper, Ga.; eight grandchildren, John David Duggan, Princeton, W.Va., William Blankenship, Homerville, Ga., Wendee Ulmer, Bryson, Texas, Joseph Brownholtz, Columbia, S.C., Lynn Gilreath, Covington, Ga., Blake Brownholtz, Columbia, S.C., Dona Arrant, Calhoun, La., and Preston McCarvill, Calhoun, La.; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, La., with Reverend Brad Jones officiating. Burial followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, La. Her grandsons and great-grandsons served as her pallbearers.
