PORT ORANGE, Fla. —
Rhett Allen Cyphers, 73, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of War, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 in the Veteran’s Home in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Born March 15, 1939 in War, he was the son of the late Dan Cyphers Sr. and Verda Cyphers. He served our nation in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church in War where he was a former pastor. He moved to Florida in 1982 and worked as a hotel manager at the Mark Charles Hotel. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping and golf.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Pauline Cyphers of Port Orange; one son, Rhett Cyphers II and wife Pam of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Tracy Barton and Victoria Mrotek and husband Danny all of Port Orange; three brothers, Daniel Cyphers and wife Kay of War, David Cyphers and wife Neal of Clover, S.C., and Randy Cyphers and wife Revonda of Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Linda Edge of War; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the Advent Christian Church, War with the Rev. Rob Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Whitt Cemetery in War Cove where a military graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post 1144, Iaeger.
Friends may call at the church Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
