RAYSAL — Ralph Edward Adams, 57, of Raysal, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, following a long illness, in the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.

Ralph was born Sept. 10, 1955, in Richlands, Va., a son of Mary M. Keene Adams and the late Martin R. Adams. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company and had worked 30 years in the coal mines. He was a loving husband, father, grandpaw, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and spending time with his family and friends; but most of all, through the days he enjoyed watching after his mother, Mary.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Marie Blevins; one brother-in-law, Earl Bellamy; one sister-in-law, Rita Adams; and his father-in-law, Robert E. Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Adams of the home; his mother, Mary Adams of Raysal; four children, James E. Adams and companion Crystal Blevins of Raysal, Jesse Adams and wife Miranda of Raysal, Ralph  Adams and wife Wendy of Raysal, and his baby, Mary Lockhart and husband Bradley of Panther; mother-in-law, Maudie Johnson of Berwind; four sisters, Carol Bellamy of Raysal and fiancé Danny Estep, Lois Johnson and husband Ralph of Berwind, Doris Jacobs and husband Jim of Goode, Va., and Valerie Hatfield and husband Eric of China; two brothers, Charles Adams and wife Gloria of Raysal and Allan Adams and wife Wendy of Jolo; one brother-in-law, Ervin Blevins of Atwell; ten grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished very much, Theresa Adams, Britney Blevins, Amber Blevins, Madison Lester, Adam Lockhart, Madeline Lester, Makayla Adams, Adyn Lockhart, Abigail Adams, and Blake Adams; and  numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Randy Campbell, Reverend James Sims, and Reverend Tommy Jenks officiating at the Old Country Church in Raysal. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery on Compton Mountain near Whitewood, Va. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at the Old Country Church in Raysal, Saturday evening, Dec. 29, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
