Virginia Frances “Granny” Hall

PRINCETON — Virginia Frances “Granny” Hall, 83, of Hobbs Place, Princeton, died early Friday morning, July 5, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born May 2, 1930, at Lowe, she was the daughter of the late Charles Rice and Mary Powers Rice.

Mrs. Hall was affectionately known as “Granny”, not only for the love of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, but served as a Nanny for her neighbors and close friends. She loved children of all ages and was destine to teach them about Jesus. She was a former employee of the Maidenform Corporation in Princeton and while her health permitted, was an active member of First Assembly of God Church on the New Hope Road near Princeton, she sang in the choir and worked in the nursery for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children: Donald Ray Hall and William David Hall; six siblings: Bill, George, Gene, and James Rice, Doris Baker, and Edith Davis.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Betty Sue Spangler of Princeton with whom she made her home. Five grandchildren: Kathy Hall of Davidson, N.C., Missy and husband, Ricky Proffitt of Princeton, Robin Farmer and special friend, Michael Smailes of Beckley, Greg Farmer and fiancée Katrina Allen of  Princeton, Denise and Jeremy Garbin of Cape Coral, Fla. Eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, five step-great-great-grandchildren. One brother: Kyle Wayne Rice of California.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Brad Puckett officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher, Matthew and Ricky Proffitt, James Thornton Jr., T.J. Jones, Chris Woodard, and Steve Leippi.

The Hall family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
