Robert Dean “Bobby” Powers, 77, of Gardner Loop Drive, Princeton, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born February 20, 1936, in Jacksonville, IL, he was the son of the late Lawrence B. Powers and Nadine Whitenack Powers.
Bobby was a retired professional delivery driver for several bakeries. Bobby loved life, never meeting a stranger and always with a smile on his face. He enjoyed cooking, playing music and various instruments. On many occasions, he had the privilege of making music with Roy Clark and other country singers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two former wives, Nina and Patricia along with a brother, Donald Powers.
Survivors include his seven children, James Dean and Terri Powers of Fredericksburg, VA, Gregory Don and Windy Powers of Newport, RI, Gerald Darren Powers, Donetta Lynn Powers both of Stafford, VA, Laura Ann and Bruce Otto of Merrimack, NH, Elizabeth June Powers, Tania Gail and Isaac Lewis of Springfield, VA. One sister, June Powell of Jacksonville, IL.
A service to remember Bobby Powers will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
