CLAYPOOL HILL, Va —
Alice Street Keen, age 99, of Claypool Hill, Virginia passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Virginia.
Ms. Keen was born in Buchanan County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late John and Louise Jackson Street. She was a member of Clearview Tabernacle at Cedar Bluff, Virginia and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of both Buchanan County and Tazewell County, Virginia.
Ms. Keen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garlie J. Keen; one daughter, Geraldine Vandyke; two sons, Billy B. Keene and Jimmy C. Keene; one grandson, Billy Dale Keen; one daughter-in-law, Frances Keen Jackson; two sons-in-law, Leland Boyd and Douglas R. Vandyke.
She is survived by: Three daughters: Kathleen Boyd of Richlands, Virginia, Shelby Jean Smith and husband, Johnny of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, Peggy Pinkerton and husband, Ronnie of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Two sons: Hubert F. Keen and wife, Helen of Ashland, Ohio, Ronald L. Keene and wife, Teah of Bristol, Tennessee. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Funeral service for Alice Street Keen will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, 1401 Second Street, Richlands, Virginia.
