Wanda Bennett, age 83, of Berwind, W.Va., died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn. She was born August 9, 1929 at Garrett, Ky. and was a daughter of the late John Bentley and Alice Bentley Rose.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, shopping, camping and working in her beautiful flower gardens. She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, W.Va. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bennett; daughter-in-law, Nyoka Sue Bennett; two sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, James H. Bennett of Newhall, W.Va.; one brother, Calvin Bentley and wife, Betty of Hampton, Va.; three granddaughters, Melissa Hagerman and husband, Steven of Yukon, W.Va., Dana Hale and husband, David and Shirl Mays and husband, John, both of Bluefield, Va.; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
Funeral services for Wanda Bennett will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, W.Va. with the Rev. Darrell Long officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
