Terry Allen Monk, Jr.

COEBURN, Va. — He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of Terry Allen Monk, Sr. and the late Penny Sue Gibson Monk. He was a loving son, husband, father and friend. Terry was a graduate from Richlands High School Class of 1993 and a proud member of the RHS Football Team State Champs in 1992-1993. He was a graduate from the UVA College at Wise, Virginia and coached football at Castlewood High School, St. Paul High School and J.J. Kelly High School. He was also a member of the Virginia Army National Guard. Terry later went to work for the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Probation Parole Officer. He was a volunteer for the Special Olympics and headed the fund raising committee for the prison system to help support the Special Olympics. He was a diehard Hokie fan, loved to watch football, play golf and spend time with his family and attending church at the Crossroads Pentecostal Church in Coeburn, Virginia.

Those who survive him and will carry on his spirit are: His loving wife, Melissa Monk of Coeburn, VA;  Son, Trevor Dalton Monk of Coeburn, VA;  Father, Terry Monk, Sr. of Richlands, VA;  Special friends Dennis Vault and Melissa Galihar.

Funeral services for Terry A. Monk, Jr., will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Pastor David Rose officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia with the Virginia Honor Guard carrying out graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Chris Boyd, Chuck Stanley, Shane Ollinger, Mark Moss, Kelly Kincaid and Mark Owens. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Football team members of the RHS State Champs of 92-93 and his fellow employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Friends may call from 5:30 -9:00 pm on Sunday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Parlor B room in Richlands, Virginia.
