Ronald Keith Harris

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Ronald Keith Harris, 73, of Lexington, NC and formerly of Bluefield, WV, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.

Born November 13, 1940 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Jackson Levi Harris and Mary Katherine Victoria Munsey Harris. Mr. Harris was born and raised in Bluefield, where he spent most of his life. He relocated to North Carolina five years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was in the construction business. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Bluefield. Mr. Harris was a coin and gun collector, enjoyed sports and was an avid car collector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.  

Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Harris, of the home; five children, Ronald Keith Harris, II and wife Thalia of Bluefield, WV, Danny Harris of Bluefield, VA, Charles Harris of Bluefield, WV, Carl Harris and wife Pamela of Westerville, OH, and Melinda Sylvester of Lexington, NC; one brother, David Harris of Bluefield, WV; four sisters, Marjorie Hartery of Bluefield, WV, Freda Evans and husband Sterling of St. Albans, WV, Frances Taylor of Bluefield, VA, and Anna Fry and husband Jerry of Fort Worth, TX; brother-in-law, Lewin Boice of Bluefield, WV; ten grandchildren, April, Ronald, Charles, Jonathon, Carl, Joshua, Robert, Brandy, Zachary, and Shannan; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 5:00 PM from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 PM until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 921 W. Neville Street, Beckley, WV 25801.
