The Reverend Jerry Willard Casey

RICHLANDS, Va. — The Reverend Jerry Willard Casey, age 76, of Richlands, Va., passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 in a Bristol, Tenn. hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Raven, Va. and was the son of the late Charles Willard and Laura Ruth Fisher Casey.

He had made his home in the Richlands area all of his life and was the pastor of the Friendly Chapel Church on Smith Ridge for the past 45 years. He was a former miner with Pittston Coal Company and was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1953. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeri Temple Casey.

Survivors are his wife, Princess Smith Casey; two sons, Charles Hylton Casey of Piney Flats, Tenn., Joseph Fisher Casey of Richlands, Va.; two sisters, Jill Kinder and husband, Roy D. of Richlands, Va., Tammy Stallard and husband, Greg of Piney Flats, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jason Scott Casey and wife, Becky and Emily Ruth Hale and husband, Brandon; one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Hale

Funeral services for the Reverend Jerry Casey will be conducted Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va. with the Reverend Eddie Hess, the Reverend Thomas Stranger and the Reverend Bob Glossenger officiating. Interment will follow at the Smith Family Cemetery on Smith Ridge near Jewell Ridge, Va. Pallbearers will be Avery “Sandy” Richardson, Michael Richardson, James “Bill” Richardson, Martin Agner, Charles Agner, Gregory Hankins, Thomas Gray Hankins, Michael “Mick” McDowell, and Kenneth Rasnake. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Friendly Chapel Church. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
