CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Do you know the Lord? I do, let me tell you about him. That was how Stuart Marshall Cole of Cedar Bluff, Virginia would start his conversation with anyone he met. So on Sunday, December 29, 2013 when Stuart's presence was required in heaven, he knew it was the Lord calling him home. He was born on March 5, 1938 in Keen Mountain, Virginia to Marsh A. and Fannie Marie Vandyke Cole.

Stuart was a proud Christian and spent his life trying to spread the word of God. He lived his life proudly and with great dignity. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he involved himself in all aspects of their lives. Stuart was a retired Federal Mine Inspector for MSHA and had worked diligently in keeping the mines safe for all coal miners. He was a long time member of the Richlands Tabernacle Church in Richlands, Virginia and lifetime resident of the area.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Cole; Granddaughter, Kendra Jadyn LaCole Johnson; brothers, Dewey, Clyde, Hubbard, Luther, Andrew, Robert and Alfred Cole; Sisters, Lona Cole Griffith, Goldie Cole Breeding, Nola Cole and Lillie Cole.

Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: His loving wife of 53 years, Geraldine Boyd Cole of Cedar Bluff, VA; Son, Darrell Cole and wife Donna of Tazewell, VA; Daughters: Karen Brown and husband, Rodney of Cedar Bluff, VA, Kimberly Johnson and husband Dwayne of Cedar Bluff, VA, Rebecca Schuler and husband Jason of Cedar Bluff, VA; Brothers: Victor Cole of Pilgrim Knob, VA, Dennis Cole of Keen Mtn., VA; Grandchildren: Sara Cole, Brandon Brown, Katelyn Johnson, Brandesha Brown, Bryson Johnson, Brennan Brown, Izaak Cole, Colton Schuler, Weston Schuler, Braelyn Schuler and one great-grandchild, Alexis Kennedy. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Stuart Marshall Cole will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Richlands Tabernacle in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev.'s Phillip Horton, Bob Osborne and Tim Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA.  Pallbearers will be Junior White, Brian McGraw, Seth Phillips, Bill Sizemore, James Vance, David Vance, Joseph Vance, Keith Varney, Bill Clifton and Cody Harman. Honorary pallbearers will be the Brethren of the Richlands Tabernacle Church. Friends may call at the church from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday evening.
