WINCHESTER, Va. — Born May 21, 1921 in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Greenen Nowlin and Hattie Elizabeth Roark Nowlin.

Phyllis attended the former Litz Presbyterian Church at Adria, VA. She opened her home to others, and was a very loving, caring, and giving individual. Phyllis was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Wright; three sons, Carl Edward Wright Jr., James Walter “Pete” Wright, and Donald Ray Wright; one daughter, Rachel Jane Miller; two sisters and three brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory include: Three sons, Jimmy Roger Wright of Duffield, VA, Curtis Eugene Wright and wife, Louise of North Tazewell, VA, and Larry Wright of Paw Paw, WV; five daughters: Hattie Mae Null of Baltimore, MD, Virginia Lee Thomas and husband, Jimmy of Belleville, MI, Betty Hankins and husband, Jerry of Bandy, VA, Linda Faye Marsh and husband, Bob of Paw Paw, WV, and Phyllis Clements and husband, Herman of North Tazewell, VA; two daughters-in-law: Debbie Wright Cheek of Carthage, NC, and Cretta Cooper Wright of Walhalla, SC; thirty grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Chuck Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memorial Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12 noon on Tuesday, December 31, 2013.
