BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Bruce Edward Yost, 86, of Bluefield, VA, passed away peacefully December 28, 2013. Born April 10, 1927 in Keystone, WV, he was the son of the late Fogleman and Louanna Witten Yost. Although born in Keystone, he spent his years growing up in Tazewell, VA. He is survived by his wife Frances Belcher Yost of 58 years. They spent their married lives in Double Gates, Bluefield VA. He was a devoted family man and obedient servant of the Lord.
He served honorably in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. His working career spanned 5 decades. He served as a machinist with Norfolk and Western Railroad, Coppinger Machinery Service and Baker Mine Service. He retired from Baker Mining in April 1989 with 28 years of service. He was a charter member of the Fincastle Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, VA which was organized in October 1962. He served as the Clerk of the Session at Fincastle Presbyterian for 20 years and as an elder for more than 20 years.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John, Howard, and Crockett Yost, and a sister, Hazel Hammitt, all of Tazewell, VA.
He is also survived by his daughter, Vivian Annette Parsons, and son-in-law, Douglas Parsons of Boones Mill, VA, his loving grandchildren, Samantha Leigh Parsons and Gregory Dean Parsons, both of Boones Mill, VA, his sister, Hallie Mae Melvin of Tazewell, VA, his brother, Robert Yost of Tazewell, VA and wife Gwen Yost, sister-in-law, Vada Yost, sisters-in-law, Margie, Pat and Betty Belcher of Princeton WV, and brother-in-law, Randolph Belcher of Princeton, WV.
The family will receive friends and family from 4-6 pm at the Dudley Funeral Home in Bluefield, Virginia on Sunday, December 29. Funeral services will be Monday, December 30, at Fincastle Presbyterian Church at 10:00 am conducted by Dr. Don Scott. Burial services will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Howard William Yost, Jr., Michael Yost, Robert Yost, Mike Melvin, Gregory Parsons, and Larry Fitzwater. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Fincastle Presbyterian Church.
