BERWIND — Gene Dean Harmon, age 67 of Berwind, W.Va. died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Born October 19, 1946 in McDowell County, W.Va. he was a son of the late, Lloyd and Emma Sparks Harmon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Harmon, Jr., Andy Harmon, Crist Harmon, and Harvey Harmon; two sisters, Minnie Rebecca Van Damme and Edna Virginia Bolen.
He is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Norma Harmon; five children, Joy Oxford and husband, Eric and Betty Griffin all of Richlands, N.C., Gene Harmon, Jr and girlfriend, Jessica East, Keith Harmon, and Shania Harmon all of the home; three grandchildren, Eric Oxford, Jr., Keith Oxford, and Lottie East; special family and friends, Brian and Teresa Williams and family, Gary and Brenda Barton, Otis and Bessie Perkins, Jack and Joe Estep, Lawrence Gullion, Gary Ritchie, Clarence and Charlene Sparks, Samuel and Sarah Prater and family, Joe Berry, Roy Duty, Tim Ray, Tom Carter, Ozzie Osborne, Don Reeds, George and Terry Dunford, and Roy Bandy; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013. In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated following visitation.
