Dorothy Maxine Stilwell Echols

BLUEFIELD — BLUEFIELD — Dorothy Maxine Stilwell Echols, 84, of the Maples, Bland Street, Bluefield, formerly of Wytheville, Va. died early Monday morning, November 4, 2013 at her home.

Born February 8, 1929, in Pulaski, Va., she was the daughter of the late, Leonard Carper and Edna Allen Carper.

For many years, Dorothy worked as a cook at the Rainbow Restaurant in Green Valley and the Rainbow Motel.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, and in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Stilwell; and her second husband, Warren Echols; along with her son, Dennis James Stilwell; also three siblings, Don Carper, Betty Parker and Nellie Blekmore.

Survivors include her three children, Edward Stilwell of Green Valley, Carl Wayne Stilwell and Patricia Ann Powell both of Princeton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two siblings, Denise Gilmore of Kingsport, Tenn., Benny Carper of Galax, Va.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Delmar Stilwell officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The Echols family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
