SANDY HUFF — Shirley Willard Gibson, Jr., 79, of Sandy Huff near Iaeger, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his residence following a long battle with cancer.

Junior was born May 23, 1934 in Welch, a son of the late Shirley Gibson, Sr. and Josephine Leona Smith Gibson. He was a retired coal miner of 43 years. He loved four wheeling and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful, caring person and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed greatly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Jean Gibson, one son, John Gibson, and two brothers, Howard Gibson and Lawrence "Hoot" Gibson.

He is survived by his loving children, Tracy Gibson and wife Beth of Roderfield, WV, Brenda Coleman and husband Norman of Sandy Huff, Sheila Vanover and husband Donald of Roderfield, Bernice Gibson of Sandy Huff, Theresa Patton and husband Richard also of Sandy Huff, Linda Gibson of the home, and Donna Gibson of Welch, WV; two sisters, Darlene Vance and husband James of Iaeger, and Dreama Gibson also of Iaeger; four brothers, Don Gibson and wife Annie of Galax, VA, Bernard Gibson and wife Jeannie of Iaeger, Jack Gibson and companion Chea Lockwood also of Iaeger, and James Gibson and wife Marlene of Huff Creek; a special sister-in-law, Shelby Gibson of Iaeger; two grandsons, Jeremy Patton and DJ Hale; four granddaughters, Norma Jean Christian, Tonya Pugalee, April Hurley, and Shirley Ruth Coleman; seven great-grandchildren, Wendy Johnson, Tyler Christian, Rebekah Christian, Austin Coleman, Steven Kissinger, Kiera Pugalee, and Ethan Pugalee; one great-great grandchild, Levi Johnson; a  special friend, Minnie Vanover; and special neighbors, Beatrice England, Johnny and Sue Simms, and Al Delgato.  

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 12 noon, with Brother Teddy Vance officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park at Bluewell, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Patton, DJ Hale, Dale and Cody Gibson, Bo Lambert, Bobby Blankenship, Tyler Christian, and Bruce Vance. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Pugalee, Bill Carter, Dennie Hale, Charlie Brookes, JD Johnson, and David Vanover.

Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, Tuesday evening, October 15, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m.
