Bertha Evelyn Lane McPeake, 93, of 1065 Airport Road, Welch, WV departed her earthly home Wednesday, October 9, 2013. She was the youngest sibling of the late J.J. Lane and Causby Grose Lane.
Bertha was a lifelong resident of McDowell County spending the greater part of her life on Belcher Mountain. Her strong Christian faith provided an inspiration to all who knew her. She was the oldest member of the Elkhorn Baptist Church located on Belcher Mountain.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband Coy McPeake.
Survivors include one daughter Reba McPeake Honaker and husband Charles of Welch; one grandson Darren Honaker and wife Patty of Clifton Forge, VA; one granddaughter Joi Honaker Ogle and husband Jeremy of Hillsville, VA; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher Honaker, Erik Honaker, Mason Honaker, Wyatt Ogle and Paige Ogle. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she considered her second children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11 A.M. from the Elkhorn Baptist Church on Belcher Mountain, near Welch. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Fanning Funeral Home in Welch from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, 66 Elkins Street, Welch, WV 24801.
