Henry David Williams, Jr.

RICHLANDS, Va. — RICHLANDS, Va. — Henry David Williams, Jr. age 83 of Richlands, Va. passed away, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was the son of the late, Henry David and Nellie Faye Burnette Williams. Henry had served his country in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War as a Corporal in the 21st Infantry Regiment. He was a POW and earned Army of Occupation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and 10 Bronze Service Stars. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a former employee for Bethlehem Steel and had lived most of his life in the Tazewell County area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Ann Williams; three brothers, Everett Doyle Williams, James Bernard Williams, and Harry Dale Williams; two sisters, Mary Lucille Hoops and Dora Belle Williams; and one step-son, Michael Smith.  

Those who remain to carry on his spirit are his loving wife, Lola Horn Ward Williams of Richlands, Va.; sons, James D. Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jack D. Williams and wife Rhonda, of Cincinnati, Ohio; step-children, Anna Ward of Cedar Bluff, Va., Allen Ward and wife, Berchie of Pilgrims Knob, Va., and David Ward and wife Ellen of Bristol, Va.; sisters, Christine Jackson of Belfast, Va., Charlotte Barrett of Bristol, Va., and Lois Palmer of Richlands, Va.; also surviving are several grandchildren step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640 will conduct military rites.
