Jimmie (Bill) Boothe, 84, of Caretta, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in Tazewell, Va.
Born August 6, 1928 in Tazewell, he was the son of the late Bertha Preston. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, and retired from Olga Coal Company. He was affiliated with the Emmanuel Baptist Church in War.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lockie Mae Boothe in 2005, and a brother and sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are a son, James Richard (Rick) Boothe and wife Terri of Catawba, N.C.; two daughters, Barbara Keene and husband Jerry of Tazewell and Vickie Lynn Patrick and husband Ken of Elkview; a brother, Arthur Boothe of North Tazewell; five grandchildren, Allan Keene of Wytheville, Christie Christian and husband Anthony of Tazewell, Amy Boothe of Catawba, and Colby and Morgan Southers both of Catawba; three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Caden Christian both of Tazewell, and Kaitlyn Clontz of Wytheville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law with whom he was very close; and caregivers, Dr. Frank Johnston and Amber Warfield.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 21 at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in War with the Rev. Spencer Oxford officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell.
Friends may call at the church from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
