John Arthur Garay Jr., age 63, of Skygusty, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Born on November 26, 1949 in Skygusty, he was a son of the late John A. Garay Sr. and Betty Freeman Garay. He had been a resident of Skygusty for 40 years and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the UMWA. He formerly worked for Alpha Prep. and was a corrections officer in McDowell County.
Survivors include: Two sons: Kevin Garay of Concord, N.C., Curtis Garay and wife Amy of China Grove, N.C.; one grandson: John Curtis Garay of China Grove, N.C.; one brother: Dr. Ronald Garay and wife Dr. Mary Sue Garay of Baton Rouge, La.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ in Skygusty with the Rev. Robert Blevins and Pastor Mike Hazeltine officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Gove Cemetery in Skygusty with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the WV Army Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
