Charlie Jamison, 89, of Bluefield, departed this life on Feb. 4, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 22, 1923 in Naffs, Va. to the late Dan and LueAnnie (Kesler) Jamison.
He was raised and educated in McDowell County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Italy. He worked as a coal miner at the United Pocahontas Coal Company for over 30 years. He retired as a coal miner in 1981.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his four brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Dorothy Jamison; three daughters, Barbara (Reggie) Samuels, of Bluefield, Vicki (Oohn) Haynes of Charlotte, N.C. and Tina (Charles) Robinson of Philadelphia, Pa., and eight sons, Charles (Rhonda) Jamison, William Keith Jamison, Daryl Jamison of Bluefield, James (Brenda) Jamison of Dallas, Texas, Michael Jamison, Christopher (Susan) Jamison of Columbia, S.C., Larry Jamison and Mark (Sylvia) Jamison of Charlotte, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at A.P. McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. John Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens .
