ROCK — Clarence Willard (Mac) McKinney, 81, of Rock, W.Va., passed away February 3, 2013 at his residence.

Born June 23, 1931, in Wyoming County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Opie and Vercie (Sink) McKinney. Mac retired in 1993 from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 42 years of service as a Carman. He loved to go deer hunting when he was younger and he enjoyed hunting with his son Doug and grandson Jamie. Later in life, he loved to visit the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina. He loved being visited by his children and grandchildren and his youngest great-great-grandson, Brentlee.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Hardin McKinney; a daughter, Shirley McKinney Whitt; grandson, Donald Nicholson; and two sisters, Christine McKinney Preston and Gay McKinney Shrewsbury.

Left to cherish his memory is wife Norma Hall McKinney; sons, Opie S. McKinney of Bluefield, Va. and Douglas McKinney and wife Tammy of Princeton, W.Va.; daughters, Patricia McKinney of Princeton, W.Va. and Leslie Darlene McKinney of Watertown, Mass.; one brother, Charles McKinney and wife Nancy of Silver City, New Mexico and one sister, Verleen Raye of Bud, W.Va.; three grandchildren whom he raised, James W. Whitt and wife Terri of Princeton, W.Va., Shawna Blankenship Whitt of Princeton, W.Va. and Ronja Whitt Kress and husband Kalvin of Port Charlotte, Fla. Also, grandchildren, Ronald and Glen Nicholson and Misty McKinney; eleven great-grandchildren, Russell and wife Erica Nicholson, Amanda, Curtis and B.J. Nicholson, Tyler and Bailey Whitt, Justin, Maddie and Harlee Blankenship, and Hannah and Micah Kress; four great-great-grandchildren, Serenity, Spencer and Logan Nicholson and Brentlee J. Blankenship.

 He is also survived by stepson, Kenneth Martin of Stafford, Va. and stepdaughter, Michele Martin (Andrew) Ballard of Reedsville, W.Va. and seven step-grandchildren, Madison Martin and Christopher, Erin, Sean, Kelsie, Michaela and Liam Ballard. He will be greatly missed by his “little buddy” Beau.

Funeral services for Willard will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, W.Va. with the Reverend Marvin McKinney officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Andrew Ballard, Russell Nicholson, Curtis Nicholson, James Whitt, Tyler Whitt and Justin Blankenship serving as pallbearers.
