Linda Lou Nesbit Farmer

ROCK — Linda Lou Nesbit Farmer, 63, of Rock, formerly of Matoaka, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at her home.  Born May 10, 1949 in Bluefield, she was the daughter of Charlie Nesbit and Anna Crane Nesbit of Matoaka.

She was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother and Sister in Christ. Linda attended school in Matoaka where she grew up, spending summers at Camp Creek with her grandmother. She spent most of her time as a homemaker and attending to the needs of her three sons. She worked as a school cook in Bristol, Va. She committed her life to Jesus at the age of 12. She was a member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church where her son serves as pastor. She was a member of the Matoaka Kiwanis and attended the Matoaka Baptist Church and Matoaka United Methodist Church. With many years of sickness she never lost her faith in God nor stopped providing love and comfort to her family. Our loss is God's gain for she truly was a Christian Warrior for the Cross.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Farmer; three children, Jerry Darrell Farmer Jr. and companion Leann Johnson of Lenoir, N.C., Rev. Kevin Farmer and wife Denae of Matoaka and MSG Robert Farmer and companion Vicky Chee of Fort Bragg, N.C.; one sister, Mary Eades and husband Dwight of Tazewell, Va.; two brothers, Tommy Nesbit and wife Wanda of Matoaka and Bobby Nesbit and wife Claudia of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and four grandchildren, J. D. Farmer III of Kingston, Pa., Devin Lee Farmer of Matoaka and Jacob and Josh Farmer of Fort Bragg, N.C.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. David Damewood officiating.  Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Rock. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Conner, Dwight Miller, Roby Vault, Steve Hartwell Jr., Bradley Jenkins Jr. and Dwight Eades.
