SALEM, Va. — Lucille Maxine “Granny” Webb, 89, of Salem, VA and formerly of Bluefield, WV passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at Snyders Nursing Home, Salem, VA after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born July 13, 1924, in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Kelly and Euva Ellen Smith Surber. She was a 1942 graduate of Beaver High School and a lifetime member of the Mid-Way Christian Church. Mrs. Webb was affectionately known as “Granny” to many children of the community whom she had babysat in her home thru the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Crockett Webb, Jr., brothers, William Leonard Surber, Bernard Eugene Surber and Ernest Kelly Surber, Jr., and a grandson, Adam Joel Moore.                   

The family left to cherish her memory are: Daughters, Gail Webb, of Salem, VA, Darlene Parker of Lincolnton, NC, Jill Adams and husband D.J. of Leigh High Acres. Fl; son, Crockett Webb and wife Alma of Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Lorraine Stout of VA Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Rita Surber of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Angela Hicks and husband Joel of Salem, VA, Holly Edwards of Greenville, NC, J.R. Hutzel and wife Robin of Wytheville, VA, Renea Hamm and husband Eric of Wytheville, VA, Leighette Adkins and husband Chris of Lincolnton, NC, Henri Fay Reid and husband Josh of Bethlehem, GA, Kim Thorne and husband Mark of Loganville, GA, Howard Keel and wife Sherri of Dacula, GA; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 expected great-grandchild and 1 expected great great-grandchild.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Webb’s life will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mid-Way Christian Church with Minister Dan Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA.

It is the family’s request, that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation Chapter of your choice in Mrs. Lucille Webb’s memory.
