Harold B. Catron, 98, of the Haven's, formerly of the Clover Dew Dairy Road, Princeton went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born November 26, 1914 in Rural Retreat, Virginia he was the son of the late Joseph Russell Catron and Susan King Powers Catron.
Harold was a graduate of Rural Retreat High School, Class of 1937.
He was a U.S. Army T/Sgt. World War II veteran having served in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. While serving his country, Harold was awarded the American Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 3 Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
He retired from Celanese Corporation with 28 years of service and was a dedicated Christian and a faithful member of the Greenview United Methodist Church in Green Valley. Harold took great pride on his farm on the Clover Dew Dairy Road.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Beulah Mae White Catron along with all of his siblings: Ida Lindamood, Aleta Harris, Christine Steffey, Ruth Leedy, Susie Davidson, William Catron, Hubert Catron, Frank Catron and Earlie Catron. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his faithful niece and caregiver and her husband, Dawn and Stuart Sigmon along with a host of special nieces and nephews. His extended family at the Havens and the Greenview United Methodist Church family. His close friend, Oka Boothe.
A service to celebrate the life of Harold B. Catron will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Greenview United Methodist Church in Green Valley with Dr. David Dockery and Pastor Rick Chester officiating. Burial will be in the Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Military honors will be given by the Mercer County Veterans Council at the cemetery. Church members, family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the church.
