POUNDING MILL, Va. —
Mr. Berlin Michael, age 93, and his wife LouAnna Michael, age 81, of Pounding Mill, VA went home to be with the Lord with their family by their side on Saturday August 17, 2013 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA following extended illnesses.
Berlin was born in Buchanan Co., VA on June 11, 1920 to the late George and Margaret Hurley Michael. LouAnna was born in Mingo County, West Virginia on December 10, 1931 to the late Clell and Mary Dotson. Berlin was in addition to his parents preceded in death by one brother James Johnson and two sisters Matilda Lane and Kelsie Fleming. LouAnna was in addition to her parents preceded in death by two sisters Myrtle Hatfield and Nary Harding and one brother Frank Dotson. Mr. and Mrs. Michael were preceded in death by one son Joel Walter Michael, one grandson Jonathan Michael Helton and one great-grandson Bobby McKinley Justus.
Berlin was retired from S & S Machinery and was a retired farmer. LouAnna was a retired L.P.N. and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church at Pounding Mill, VA.
The Michael’s are survived by five children: Nora Anderson of Englewood, FL; Brady Michael and wife Dean of Pounding Mill, VA; Russell Dotson and wife Patty of Johnson City, TN; Jimmy Michael and wife Christine of Bland, VA and Teresa Diane Simmons and husband Kelly of Meadowview, VA. LouAnna is survived by two sisters BirdieLee May and husband Herbert and Maxine Reynolds and husband Don. The Michael’s have 14 grandchildren: J.R. Dalton, Ron Dalton, Brian Dalton, Scotty Michael, Rick Michael, Rusty Dotson, Vicky Marrs, Jamie Henderson, Opie Davis, Anna Michael, Cristy Michael, Meygan Simmons, Ashley Justus and AFC Emily Simmons; 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver Jane Smith.
Funeral services for Berlin and LouAnna Michael will be conducted at 12:00 noon today (Tuesday), August 20, 2013 in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with the Revs. Russell Honaker, Lonnie Perkins and Jimmy Cox officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum at Abingdon. Those attending the graveside service are requested to meet at the mausoleum by 6:00 P.M. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at after 11:00 A.M. today (Tuesday).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shrines Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.
