FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Mr. Vernon Lee Crockett, age 80, of Franklin, Tenn., died on March 23, 2013.

Veteran of the U.S. Army. Retired from Ingram Materials. Graduate of Virginia Military Institute. Member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Vernon was one of Doc Witten's boys.

He was preceded in death by parents, Samuel Crockett Jr. and Ethel Stillwell; uncles, Samuel, Virgil and Jack Crockett, Lawrence, Clarence and Melvin Stillwell.

Survived by wife of 57 1/2 years, Nancy Bailey Crockett; daughters, Cindy Crockett and Sharon (Ron) Simone; brothers, Stewart (Jeanette) Long and Russell Crockett; sisters, Jan Crockett and Sharon (Joe) Richardson; grandchildren, Chris Crockett, Jonathan and Stacy Dementry; great-grandchild, Cameron Crockett; nieces, Kathy Potter, Debbie Garland and Peggy Crockett; sister-in-law, Jane Garrard (Pete); nephews, David and Kevin Garrard.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. Graveside service will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Stewart Long, Chris Crockett, Jonathan Dementry,  Stacy Dementry  and friends.
