Paula L. Janes, 64, of Dove Lane, Princeton, died late Thursday evening, October 11, 2012 at Inova Heart & Vascular Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
Born August 29, 1948, in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Fred J. “Chief” Niswander and Alma Lee Hensley Niswander.
Paula was a graduate of Mullens High School in Mullens, and received her undergraduate and graduate work from Marshall University and West Virginia University in Education.
While living in Prince William County, Virginia, Paula taught school for more than 20 years, having taught English and Spanish. Upon return to the Princeton area, she taught in the Mercer County School System for several years. She was of the Christian faith. While her health permitted, she truly loved and enjoyed growing flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sibling, Darla Gay Niswander on October 2, 2012.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 29 years, Thomas W. Janes; her son, Andrew Thomas Janes of Princeton.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from noon until the service hour.
