Paul E. Blankenship

PRINCETON — Paul Edward Blankenship, 69, of Princeton, met with his heavenly father on Friday, January 10, 2014 with his loving family at his side at Charleston Area Medical Center. In his words, he was going to “The Streets of Gold and soon would be fishing with his Pap.” Born September 9, 1944 at Beartown, he was the son of the late Harry Blankenship and Pauline Bailey Blankenship.

Paul was a 1962 graduate of Herndon High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired mine foreman at Consolidated Coal Company, having worked at Itmann, Turkey Gap and Buchanan, VA. Paul attended Landmark First Church of God in Princeton. He read his Bible daily and could quote many scriptures. He was also an excellent carpenter, electrician and mechanic. Paul loved to wear his straw hat and ride his mower in the summertime. One could always catch him sitting on his mower and talking to the neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Greer; and one nephew, Ricky Greer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Yvonne Moore Blankenship of the home; one daughter, Tammy Flinchum and her husband William of Princeton; one son, David Blankenship and his wife Melissa of Princeton; four grandchildren, “the apples of his eyes,” Lindsey Tibbs and her husband Justin, Alaina Blankenship, David Flinchum and James Blankenship all of Princeton; three sisters, Gaye Hancock and her husband Jimmy of Beartown, Patty Dyer of Beartown and Ruth Hill of Falls Church, VA; a special cousin, Janice Wilson and her husband Bill of Princeton; and his little dog, Toby, will miss him greatly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastors Scott Hodge and Robbie Hefner officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
