Born March 31, 1941 in Louisville, KY, she was a daughter of the late William Cabbel Hawks and Minnie Frances Boyles Hawks.
Mrs. Richey began a career in nursing at Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch until she moved to South Carolina where she was a nurse for over 20 years. She moved back to Bluefield in 2003 and was a member of Lively Stone Church in Squire, WV. Mrs. Richey enjoyed writing poetry and drawing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Keith Dunford; sisters, Wilma Connell and Billie Miller; and brother, Clinton Hawks.
Survivors include three children, Kelly Dunford and wife Barbara of Starr, SC, Edna Wingo of Berwind, WV and Debra Mason and husband Tony of Berwind; three sisters, Lydia Gross of Beckley, WV, Janet Puckett of Poplarville, MS, and Myra Coffey of Iva, SC; two brothers, Carson Hawks and wife Kathy of Tazewell, VA and Michel Hawks and wife Candi of Belton, TX; ex-husband and special friend, Franklin Lough of Berwind; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
