James Harvey Woods, 84, of Princeton, passed away early Saturday morning, December 14, 2013 at his residence.
He was born April 24, 1929, in Raleigh County, to the late Nannie Bell Knight Wood and Wesley Wood.
James was a long time employee and manager of Virginian Supply Company also known as Virginia Brick & Tile. In his spare time, he loved to be out in nature and travel with his wife Louise; together they had visited every state but Hawaii. James had a deep love for family and never met a stranger. He was a friend to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six siblings: Clifford, George Willard, Henry, Faye, Elsie and Daisy.
He was the last of his immediate family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma Louise Dickerson Woods, and their three children, Patricia Perdue of Princeton, Danny Woods of Princeton, Larry Woods and wife Kathy of Shady Spring. His seven grandchildren: Jeffery, Michael, Jessica, Joshua, and Sara Woods, Jennifer and Leslie Perdue. Three great-grandchildren, Miranda, Katelyn and Jamie. A host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of James Woods will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
