BLUEFIELD, Va. —
David Andrew Bailey, 35, of Bluefield, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Dawn Ann Davidson Bailey Hawks of Princeton, WV and the late William Phillip Bailey.
David was a 1996 graduate of Graham High School. He was captain of the 1995 State Champion Football team, received the Bill Dudley Award, All State Linebacker, All Regional Basketball and Baseball, named Most Versatile Athlete in the Bluefields, selected to play on National Basketball team for Wake Forest, attended and played football for Ferrum College, played semi-pro football for Bluefield Barons. He coached the little league sports for Bluefield, VA teams and the girls AAU basketball team, as well as refereeing local sporting events. He was an avid outdoorsman and was employed at Laser Car Wash.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Suiter and Virginia Davidson and paternal grandparents, Phillip and Nina Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Dawn Ann Davidson Bailey Hawks and her husband, Terry of Princeton; sisters, Jinger Underwood and husband Richard of Bluefield, VA, Leslie Jarrell and husband Chris of Bluefield, Natalie Creasy and husband Joey of Bluefield, VA; nieces and nephews, Haylie “Stumpy” Underwood, BrookeAnn and Joseph Creasy, Adrianne and Suiter Jarrell; his special friend, Dusty Gray; several aunts and uncles.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Bluefield, VA at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. His life-long friends will serve as pallbearers
Friends may visit with the family today at the First United Methodist Church from 6-9 p.m.
