CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. —
Barbara Ann Gilmore, 73, of Charlottesville, Va., passed away at her home Thursday, April 18, 2013. She was born September 26, 1939 to the late John and Eva Saunders. Barbara was raised by two loving grandparents, Alex and Allie Ables of Princeton, W.Va.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Boyd J. Gilmore. Also predeceased in death by her uncle, Howard “Bernard” Ables and two aunts, Glenna Fowler and Cora Ables all of Princeton, W.Va.
She is survived by one loving daughter, Tammy and her husband Robert Autry of Charlottesville and their four children, Aaron, Adam, Andrew, and Ashley. She is survived by five great-grandchildren, Spenser, Ella, Aubrey, T.J. and Eli. Barbara is survived by her aunts and uncles that were like brothers and sisters to her: Dillard and his wife Ruby Ables of Princeton, W.Va., William “Mickey” and his wife Lulla Ables of Princeton, W.Va., Amer Blankenship of Princeton, W.Va., and Audrey Pool of Portsmouth, Va. Three half siblings: Pete Saunders, Gayland Markham, and Reba Long. A special cousin, Timmy Ables. A special friend and loving neighbor, Kay Haroney, whom will never be forgotten. She is survived by many extended family and friends.
Barbara was an employee at Depaul Medical Center where she retired after 23 years. In 1999 she began her career at Sam's Club till her passing. She was a great employee, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will truly be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00. Burial will be private in Norfolk, Va.
