Ernest Monroe Lambert

GREENVILLE, Ky. — Ernest Monroe Lambert

GREENVILLE, Ky. — Ernest “Ernie” Monroe Lambert, Sr., of Drakesboro, Kentucky formerly of Athens died April 12, 2013. He was 73.

Ernie was born in Kimball and was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie Lambert.

He served in the United Sates Air Force and then the Army during Vietnam, as part of the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade. He saw combat in Vietnam, He received the Silver Star Medal of Valor, and the Bronze Star, for his actions. He served a total of 22 years in the United States Armed Services.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Lou Lambert and Rose Marie Lambert and one brother, Marvin Lambert.

He is survived by his children, Louis Dean, of Anchorage, Alaska, Janet Leigh Magadanz, (Keith), of Clearwater, Fla., Ernest M. Lambert, Jr., of Kimball, Warren C. Lambert, (Julie), of Athens, Justin Kraus, (Christina), of Wasilla, Ark., and Sara M. Lambert, of Clayton, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Jackie Lambert, (Wanda), of Greenville, Ky., Mary Burleson, (Charles), of Aurora, Mo., Doris Heafner, (Carson), of Newton, N.C., Wanda Jones, of Princeton, Rita White, of Claremont, N.C., Chuck Lambert, (Jane), of Bluefield, Jo Gray, (Johnny), of Athens, Larry Lambert, (Diane), of Harrisburg, N.C., Terry Lambert, (Lisa), of Claremont, N.C., and Rodney Lambert, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 15, 2013 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where full military honors were conducted.
