Reverend William Stanley Synan

“Billy”

PRINCETON — Reverend William Stanley “Billy” Synan, 89, of Roger Street, Princeton, went to meet his Lord and Savior early Monday morning, April 15, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia.

Born May the 15th, 1923, Peel Chestnut Mountain, he was the son of the late James Alford Synan and Tamara Hurd Synan.

Billy was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. He served with the Third Armored Division in Germany and was twice wounded in combat which would later take a toll on his life. He had received numerous awards and medals along with a Purple Heart.

Billy was married September 20, 1941 along with his brother Wesley marrying Luellen's sister Dorothy Davidson and had celebrated 71 years of marriage.

Billy had served as a pastor with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee for many years. While living in Manassas, Virginia, he Founded and Pastored the Church of God there from 1967 until 1989. He was a member of the Princeton Church of God on the Oakvale Road in Princeton, and love attending Sunday school. He loved his family he loved God and he was an avid golfer having scored six holes in one during his lifetime and last played in the summer of 2012 when he was 89 years of age.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Luellen Davidson Synan; six children, Carl E Synan and wife Nancy Hogan Synan of Stanley N.C., William Darrell Synan and wife Karen Larsen Synan of Culbertson, Mont., Rita Synan Wilson and husband Joe Wilson of Inman, S.C., Randy Synan and wife Carol of Princeton, Anita Ray Synan Whitmer and husband Daniel Whitmer (Tootie) of Bluefield, Va., Ronald Dale Synan and wife Trish Silver Synan of Fredericksburg, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Joey Wilson, Sherrie Wilson and Kevin Wilson, Carla and Angela Synan, Brandon, Kathleen, Clay, Jeb, Terry, Wayne and Charlene Synan; 18 great-grandchildren. One remaining brother, Russell Synan of Peel Chestnut Mountain. A host of nieces and nephews.

A service of celebration will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, from the Princeton Church of God on the Oakvale Road in Princeton with Pastor Aaron Allen Davidson and Pastor Stella Falvo officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

A time of sharing and gathering will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton and one hour prior to services at the church.
