BLUEFIELD — Aldo Lijoi, 74, of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Monday November 18, 2013.
Aldo was born in Sant' Andrea, Ionio, Italy on March 31, 1939, and was married to Vittoria Lijoi on September 23, 1962 in Sant' Andrea.
Aldo is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno Lijoi and Marianna Calarco of Sant' Andrea, Ionio, Italy; his siblings, Mario Antontio Lijoi of Bluefield, W.Va., Giuseppe Lijoi and Teresa Lijoi Nestico of Italy.
Aldo is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vittoria Lijoi; his three children, Mary Ann Barcinas and husband, Joe of Dayton, Ohio, Gina Lijoi of Reno, Nev., and Bruno Lijoi and wife, Michelle of Bluefield; grandchildren, Kristina Barcinas of San Antonio, Texas, Vittoria and Vincent Horne of Reno, Nev., Ashley, Malayah, and Aviona; his sisters, Claire Barone and husband, Peter of Brooklyn, N.Y., Silvana Codispoti of Parma, Italy; his aunts, Gina Lijoi of Sant' Andrea, Italy, and Carmela Lijoi of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Maria Lijoi of Italy; and brother-in-law, Domenico Nestico of Italy; and many nieces, nephews; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday November 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Elpido Geneta officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
