BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Fred Eugene Neel, 80, of 118 Wicker Lane, Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Tazewell, VA and was the son of the late William Newton and Lena Marie Bennett Neel.
He was a driver for Nehi Bottling Company. Mr. Neel enjoyed gardening, carpentry, woodwork, and playing his banjo.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Neel of Roxboro, NC and his daughter, Michelle Smith and husband Stephen from Duncannon, PA; sisters, Mary Belle Stowers of Bluefield, VA, Edith Blankenship and husband Richard of Bastian, VA, Georgia Durham of Bluefield, VA; brother, James Edward Neel of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren, Rebekah, Julia, Aaron and Emma Smith, and Michael Eugene Neel, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Abby, Ashton and Aubrey Neel.
A service to celebrate Mr. Neel’s life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
