TAZEWELL, Va. —
Born February 24, 1928 in Mount Hope, WV she was the daughter of the late Wythe Henley Dunavan and Margaret Eleanor (Ruth) Anderson Dunavan. She fought a long and hard battle with Parkinson's disease and was a ten year resident of Heritage Hall, Tazewell, VA. She was a member of the Tazewell Presbyterian Church. Ada was a hairdresser for 25 years before retirement and becoming a Heritage Hall resident.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Ernest Houston Whittaker; grandson, Kevin Kristopher Wilson; two brothers, Wallace Henley Dunnivan and Curtis R. Dunnivan.
Ada is survived by one daughter, Linda Marie Whittaker Wilson and son-in-law, Joseph Wayne Wilson of Nags Head, NC; one granddaughter, Kerry Wilson Mueller and husband, Jeffrey of Winchester, VA; two great-granddaughters, Zoe Elisabeth Mueller and Linde Katherine Mueller of Winchester, VA; three brothers, Russell Guy Dunavan and wife, Nancy of Tazewell, VA, Robert Lee Dunnivan and wife, Mary Ann of Sherman, TX, and James Franklin Dunnivan of Buhl, ID. She was also survived by nieces and nephews in Utah, Idaho, Texas, and Missouri.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon Friday, December 27, 2013 at Tazewell Presbyterian Church in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Robert Button officiating.
Private family graveside services and interment will be conducted at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA prior to the memorial service.
