• Terry Luther Davis, 52, of Cedar Bluff, Va., formerly of Buchanan County, Va., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Tazewell Community Hospital, Tazewell, Va., following an extended illness. Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
• Donald Eugene Dean, 69, of Gilbert, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan. Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of arrangements.
• Walker Miles Goad, 85, of 178 Caribou Lane in Flat Top, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton.
• Walter Justus, 65, of Vansant, Va., died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in a Richlands, Va. hospital. Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
• Paul Keene, 81, of Baptist Valley, Va., formerly of Buchanan County, Va., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in a Kingsport, Tenn. hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va.
• Dr. Charles E. Lane, 85, of 212 W. Broadway St., Athens, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton.
• Mrs. Effie Rachel Looney, 93, of Floyd, Va., formerly of Buchanan County, Va., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in Floyd. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va.

Raymond Thompson Buchanan
KERNERVILLE, N.C. — Raymond Thompson Buchanan, 66, died March 25, 2008.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel, 213 West Mountain Street, Kernersville.
A native of Tazewell County, Va., he was the son of the late Margaret Kathleen Buchanan and Raymond Buchanan. He served his country through the U.S. Navy as Petty Officer First Class Signalman, and was an original Plank Owner of the USS Enterprise. He was a retired senior parts analyst, with 20 years of service, with Volvo Parts North America. He was a Mason and a member of Guilford Lodge No. 656 A.F. & A.M. He simply enjoyed his life, his work, his friends, and his family always came first.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Rhudy.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Watson Buchanan of the home; daughter, Lisa Buchanan Sizemore of Powhatan, Va.; son, Steven R. Buchanan and his wife Julie of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren, Todd, Amanda, and Taylor Sizemore, and Zachary, and Grayson Buchanan; sisters, Anna Marie Spurgeon of Bluefield, Va., and Betty Pou of Neese, S.C.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

George W. Christian
BIG SANDY — George W. Christian, age 69, of Big Sandy, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at his residence after a long illness. Born February 22, 1939, in Hensley, he was the son of the late Frank and Naomi Parsons Christian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys; and three brothers, Henry, Virgil and Sonny.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carol England Christian of Big Sandy; one daughter, Kristi Osborne and husband Mark of Big Sandy; two sons, Kevin Christian and wife Lisa of Princeton, Brian Christian and wife Alisa of Elkin, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jacob, Jonah, Miranda and Judah; one brother, Bud Christian of Big Sandy; one sister, Dorothy Strattis of Pipestem; and a sister-in-law, Rita Christian of Big Sandy.
Graveside services will be conducted today (Thursday), March 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the Rev. Chuck Crabtree, officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Cecil Combs
BEESON — Cecil Combs, 76, of Beeson, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born February 8, 1932, in Hiawatha, he was the son of the late William and Goldie Spangler Combs.
Mr. Combs was of the Baptist faith. He was a coal miner for over twenty-seven years at Turkey Gap and was a member of UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Shrewsbury and two brothers, Lawrence Combs and William Combs.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Ruth Beckner Combs; three daughters, Debra West and husband Walter of Beeson, Kathy Stables of Rock and Jennifer Walls and husband Michael of Beeson; four sons, Jackie Combs and wife Paula of Lake Bottom, Jerry Combs and wife Sheila of Beeson, Gary Combs and wife Patricia of Beeson and Mitchell Combs of Oakvale; one sister, Louise Akers of Princeton; three brothers, Alonzo Combs and wife Mary of Lashmeet, Penny Combs and wife Loma of Cool Ridge and Oscar Combs and wife Ilene of Bud; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Gene Pennington and Pastor Sherman Duncan, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339.

John (Johnny) L. Lusk
BLUEFIELD — John (Johnny) L. Lusk, age 62, of Route 1 Box 482 (Littlesburg Road), passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born November 1, 1945 in McComas, W.Va., he was the son of the late Milton and Dolly Pennington Lusk.
John had been a resident of Bluefield for the past 32 years. He had worked for Lusk Disposal, Kings Tire Service, and Citizens Coal and Supply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Buddy (Pee Wee) Lusk, Danny Lusk, Gordon Lusk, and Dennis Lusk.
Survivors include: His wife, Jeanie Coeburn Lusk of Bluefield, W.Va.; one son, John Lusk and wife Janice of Charlotte, N.C.; five daughters, Robin Hancock and husband Randy of Montcalm, W.Va., Rhonda (Lee) Bailey and husband Bobby (Buster) of Littlesburg Road, Shonda Shrader and husband Dennis of Skating Rink Hollow, Lucinda (Luci) Walters and husband James of Princeton, W.Va., Misty Lusk of Thomasville, N.C.; three brothers, David Lusk and wife Donna (sis) of Littlesburg Road, Rex Lusk and wife Barbra of Sandlick Road, Brian Lusk of Princeton, W.Va.; three sisters, Carol Coeburn and husband Wayne of Montcalm, W.Va., Marlene Faulkner and husband Richard of Floyd, Va., Doris (Cook) Sexton and husband Paul of Sandlick Road; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; two special friends, Fred and Jeanette Dinger.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, W.Va. with Pastor David Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Grandchildren, sons-in-law, nephews, and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mable Inez Manns Miller
BLUEFIELD — Mable Inez Manns Miller, 87, of Bluefield, W.Va., departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2008 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
She was educated in the schools of McDowell County and was employed as a domestic and loved to cook. She was a faithful member of the Jehovah Witness.
She was the daughter of the late Frankie and Johnny Manns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Miller Jr.; daughter, Peola Hester; son, Donald K. Miller; brothers: James, William and Robert Manns; sisters: Katherine, Esther, Idalee and Alberta Manns; father and mother-in-law: Russell and Evelyn Miller; stepbrothers-in law: Jake and Walter Todd.
She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Y. Eaves, Bluefield, W.Va. and Gwen Nunnally, Lorain, Ohio; sons: Charles A. Miller of Cleveland, Ohio and Russell Miller III of Lorain, Ohio; a sister Geraldine White, Bluefield, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 28, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the G.H. Sinkford Memorial Chapel of the Richardson Funeral Home of Bluefield, with Elder Leon Pipen officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens on Littlesburg Road.
