Timothy Scott “Bubba” Barnes
BLUFF CITY, Tenn. — Television producer and videographer Timothy Scott “Bubba” Barnes, whose career in motorsports spanned thirty years, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008, after battling cancer since 2007. He was forty-eight years old.
A longtime racing enthusiast, Barnes began his television career as a news cameraman with WCYB-TV in his hometown of Bristol, Tenn., and became a cameraman for ESPN's drag racing coverage in 1985. He became one of the original employees of Masters Entertainment Group in Bristol and went on to produce and direct MEG television shows for a variety of networks including ESPN, ESPN2 and SPEED Channel.
Barnes was responsible for all facets of production of MEG's weekly “Inside Drag Racing” series which covered hundreds of events from dozens of racing associations. He also produced the “Street Rodder” weekly series for ESPN and was the chief videographer for “NHRA Heat” and dozens of other shows. As chief videographer for MEG for the past decade, Barnes attended over one hundred events per season and covered a wide range of motorsports. He maintained relationships with thousand of individuals throughout the racing world including drivers, crew chiefs, constructors and officials through out his career.
Barnes actively participated in sprint car racing and drag racing and was also a capable builder of street rods and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. His knowledge of all aspects of hot rodding was employed in his television productions and helped garner major attention of MEG television shows resulting in several industry awards.
Easily identifiable, “Bubba” Barnes enjoyed the friendship of many of racings' biggest stars. “There was nobody who didn't like Bubba”, said MEF President Ted Jones, “and everybody respected his opinion. He was an integral member of our company and, like the fans and racers who knew him, we will miss him tremendously”.
A native of Richlands, Va., he was the son of the late Fred and Ruth McGlothin Barnes. He was a former member of the Sullivan County Planning Commission and was a member of the National Harley Group. Mr. Barnes was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly L. Barnes, of the home; a daughter, Megan Lee Barnes, of the home; a son, Brandon S. Barnes, U.S. Air Force, Turkey; a brother, William (Sandy) Marrs and his wife Peggy, Ocala, Fla. and a sister-in-law, Lisa A. Simpson and her husband Ricky, Bluff City, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Timothy Scott “Bubba” Barnes will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, Tenn. with Mr. Roland Whittemore and Mr. Brad Perry, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Stacy Ivester and Sabrina Arnold. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the funeral service.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 in Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Larry (Drums) Brancaccio, Robbie Simpson, Brett Keppner, Joe Gregg, Daniel Arnold, Rickie W. Simpson, Jim (Conrad) Blankenbecler and Travis P. Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas R. Johnson, Dr. James G. Blom and Staff at the Regional Cancer Center, Dr. David Jones, Staff of 5200 Wing Johnson City Medical Center Hospital and the Staff of Master Entertainment Group. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 12:00 noon to go in procession to the cemetery.

George Paul Beljan
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — George Paul Beljan, age 83, a two-year resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and a Pittsburgh, Pa. native, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 following an extended illness. He married the late Frances Mastalski on August 16, 1950. George was a World War II U.S. Naval veteran serving on the USS Marblehead as an electrician and one of five brothers who served our U.S. Military simultaneously during World War II.
Mr. Beljan began his career as Golf Professional/Superintendent by designing the original course for Mannitto Haven C.C. in New Alexandria, Pa. in 1955 until 1971. He relocated to Preston C.C. in Kingwood, W.Va. in 1971 until 1981, when he took the Pro/Supt. Position at Buckhannon C.C., Buckhannon, W.Va. George retired at the age of 75 in 2000. In 1997, he was presented the WV Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Lifetime Achievement Award.
Survivors include six children, Jan Beljan of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Puggy (Bill Farley) Beljan-Farley of Manassas, Va.; Andrew (Deborah) Beljan of Myakka City, Fla.; Patricia (Robert) Ayers of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Willie Beljan of Lindside, W.Va.; and John Beljan of Longwood, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Joe, Christopher, Kevin, Matthew, Melissa, Savanna, and Gregory.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2008 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204 US Hwy. #1, Tequesta, Fla. A reception will follow the Mass at Frenchman's Reserve C.C., Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The United States Navy will present Military Honors 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at the South Florida VA National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Fla.

Vada M. Cook
BLUEFIELD — Vada M. Cook, age 51, of P.O. Box 1171, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, W.Va.
Born December 2, 1956 in Nimitz, W.Va., she was the daughter of Louise Pack Farley and the late Willie Lee Cook. Ms. Cook was a resident of the Bluefield area most of her life. She was a 1977 graduate of Montcalm High School. She was employed by Grants Super Market on Bluefield Avenue, Bluefield, W.Va., where she was a supervisor over the Produce Department.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vicky Carver and her stepfather, Charles Blake Farley.
Survivors include: Her mother, Louise Pack Farley of Rock, W.Va.; long time companion, Randy Bailey of Bluefield, W.Va.; one sister, Debra Tooley and husband Johnny of Rock, W.Va.; one brother, Ronnie Cook and companion Patricia Bailey of Rock, W.Va.; five stepsisters, Carol Cook of Bluefield, W.Va., Pat Zabarsky of Ohio, Judy Soto of California, Shelby Nichols of Bluewell, W.Va., Mary Cleveland of Ohio; two stepbrothers, Roy Farley of Bluefield and Junior Farley of North Carolina; four nieces and four nephews.

Ronnie Keith Danieley
LERONA — Ronnie Keith Danieley, 67, of Clover Lane, Lerona, died Thursday evening, March 20, 2008, at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born March 28, 1940, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Herman and Atha Robertson Danieley. Keith was a graduate of Athens High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict serving with the U.S. Army, while serving his country, he received the Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Keith attended Painters Chapel United Methodist Church at Speedway. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved going to car shows. He was a retired strip miner, operating heavy equipment for High Power Energy Company with 25 years of service. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. Keith had worked in the maintenance department at Pipestem State Park for several years. Keith was currently serving as Sergeant at Arms for the Blue-Gray Chapter 628, of the Vietnam Veterans of America in Princeton.
Survivors: His wife, Regina Carol Howell Danieley; six children and spouses, Pam and Harold Caldwell of Atlanta, Ga., Tonya and Alvin White Jr. of Pettry, Tara and Steven Brumit of True, Traci and Kevin Darnell of Coal City, Heather and Marvin Munoz of Pipestem, Valerie and Joshua Bolar of Covington, Va.; nine grandchildren, Andrew Caldwell and wife Crystal, Mark Caldwell, Austin White, Tesa Danieley, Taylor Brumit, Dylan Darnell, Justin Brumit, Elizabeth Bolar and Bode Munoz; siblings, Ellis Danieley and wife Mary of Radford, Va., Jerry Danieley, Judy Newman and husband Ken all of Georgia, Herman Danieley Jr. and wife Burnadette of Camarillo, Calif.

Military Graveside services will be under the direction of the Blue-Gray Chapter 628, Vietnam Veterans of America, held in the Athens Cemetery, in Athens.

James Elwood Dollinger
JENKINJONES — James Elwood Dollinger, 77, of Jenkinjones, W.Va., died Friday, March 21, 2008 at his daughter’s home in Bluefield, Va.
He was born in Jenkinjones and was a son of the late Frank Dollinger and Inez Blevins Dollinger.
He had worked as a miner in several West Virginia mines and retired as General Mine Foreman for Consolidated Coal Co. He was a member of the UMWA, Bluefield Moose Lodge and Bluefield Elks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Hughes Dollinger; daughter, Shirley Dollinger of Bluefield, Va.; sons, Alan Dollinger of Springville, Va. and David Dollinger of Burke, Va.; brothers, Pete Dollinger of Atlanta, Ga. and Frank Dollinger Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Gladys Hughes of Tazewell, Va., Ola Hypes of Mudfork, Va., Dottie Miller of Falls Mills, Va.; grandchildren, Paula Illig, Michelle Wilson, Alan Dollinger II, and J.T. Dollinger; great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Chase Illig, Trë Dollinger and Parker Dollinger.
In honoring his wishes he has been cremated and there will be no services or visitation.

Delmer Elswick
RICHMOND, Va. — Delmer Elswick, 77, of Richmond, formerly of Harman, Va., passed away March 21, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bart and Alice Elswick.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Anne Elswick; a sister, Gaynelle Burke; brother, Homer Elswick; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Elswick was a member of North Run Baptist Church. He was also a Mason with the Glen Allen Lodge No. 131, Kerbela Shriner, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Eastern Star Glen Allen Chapter 61. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the VFW.
His remains rest at Bliley's Funeral Home - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday (today). A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at North Run Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at N.B. Colley Cemetery, Breaks, Va.

Raymond Jackson “Bud” Hypes
PRINCETON — Raymond Jackson “Bud” Hypes, 79, of Hazelnut Drive, Princeton, died peacefully late Thursday evening, March 20, 2008 at his home.
Born December 23, 1928, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Roy Buck Hypes and Ethel Barr Hypes.
Bud was educated in Princeton, and served with the U.S. Navy. For many years, Bud owned and operated J. & K. Plumbing Company in Detroit, Mich. Upon return to Princeton, he started and continues to own and operated Bud Hypes Plumbing in Princeton and other locations in Southern West Virginia.
Bud was a member of the Princeton Church of God on the Oakvale Road, Princeton. Bud loved his family, truly enjoyed laughing and cutting up with people. Bud was quiet in many ways with his generosity, he supported Appalachian Teen Challenge, the Princeton Salvation Army and many other agencies in our area.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 15 years, Patty Taylor Hypes; children: James Ray Hypes of Princeton, Kenneth Roy Hypes and wife Elaine of Michigan; stepchildren: Jay Murphy of Princeton, James Skeens and wife Donna of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; sisters: Faye Owens and husband Earl of Michigan, Madge Ball of Georgia, Linda Smith and husband Richard of Michigan.
On Monday, March 24, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., we will celebrate the life of Bud Hypes from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. Ray Hurt and Pastor Fred Farley officiating. OCALA, Fla. — William Richard “Jake” Isom, Jr., age 80, of Ocala, Fla. and formerly of Bastian, Va., died Tuesday, March 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. Richard Isom Sr. and Roberta Winegar Isom; sister, Jincy Lowry; brother, John Corbet Adkins Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena Bowles Isom; stepchildren, Archie Caudill, Frank Caudill, Dorcas Steffey, Deborah Bruce, Dreama Neilson and Darrell Caudill; sister, Virginia Isom Scott; special nephew, Thomas Burrell, son of Wanda Adkins Burrell of Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.

Martha Ruth Karnes
PRINCETON — Martha Ruth Karnes, 56, of 845 Rocky Branch Road in Princeton, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born June 12, 1951 in Princeton, she was the daughter of Mary Pauline Shew of Perry, Ga. and the late Alva Lilly. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include one son, Stanley Wayne Karnes and wife Roxanna of Rich Creek, Va.; one daughter, Melissa Reed and husband Stephen of Mullens; three grandchildren, Kristi Karnes, Jessica Karnes and Casey Reed; three sisters, Bonnie Sammons of Perry, Ga., Linda Ball and Phyllis Wiley both of Princeton; and one brother, Dempsey Brinkley of Athens.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Athens Cemetery with the Rev. C.T. Lilly officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by the service hour on Monday.

Jerry Arnold Lester
TAZEWELL, Va. — Jerry Arnold Lester, 52, of the Thompson Valley section of Tazewell, Va., formerly of Buchanan County, Va., passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Lebanon, Va. following a brief illness.
He was born February 23, 1956 in Buchanan County, Va., and was the son of Alberta Hale Lester Vandyke of Tazewell, Va., and of the late Virgil Arnold Lester. Jerry had lived most of his life in Buchanan County, Va. before moving to the Tazewell area about ten years ago. He was a retired coal miner and electrician, having been employed by Consol Energy at the No. 8 mine and by Frank Blankenship Electrical.
Jerry was of the Pentecostal faith and was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. It should also be said of Jerry that he was a devoted family man, who loved his wife, his son, his mother and sisters, and especially his two darling grandsons. There are many friends, family, and co-workers who mourn his passing.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, are his loving wife, Naomi June Lester; son, Steven Lester of Tazewell, Va.; sisters, Gail Viers and husband, Jim of Tazewell, Va., Barbara Rowe and husband, Danny of Abingdon, Va.; grandsons, Joseph and Jacy Lester; special caregivers, the staff of Maple Grove Health Care in Lebanon, Va. Many friends, co-workers, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Jerry Lester will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. with Steven Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be David Rowe, Danny Rowe, Jeff Lester, Bobby Lester, Jim Viers, and Mikey Lester. Special honorary pallbearer will be Darrell Hale.

Daniel Wayne Randolph
LERONA — Daniel Wayne Randolph, 51, of the Old Lerona Road, Lerona, died peacefully Friday evening, March 21, 2008 at his home with his family at his side.
Born August 7, 1956, in Princeton, he was the son of Jacqueline Hill Harman of Lerona and the late Arthur Randolph.
Daniel was a graduate of Athens High School and had attended Concord University in Athens. He had been a stock clerk for fifteen years and attended the Lerona United Methodist Church in Lerona.
Daniel was a loving individual, he enjoyed watching television and videos, and working crossword puzzles. He was a caregiver to his grandmother Zona Hill for many years; he shared his love with all of his family, but truly loved his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dale E. Harman; grandparents, Carl and Ollie Randolph, and Archie G. and Zona B. Hill.
Survivors: His loving mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” Hill Harman of Lerona; sisters, Nancy Cooper and husband Lee of Princeton, Sherri Anderson of Lerona, Valerie Daniel and husband Tony of Oak Hill, Dawn White and husband Tony of Athens; stepbrother, Roger Harman and wife Donna of Lerona; nieces and nephews, Heather Johnson, Jared Cooper, Tessa Anderson, Holly Richmond, Kiersten White and Alec White; two great-nieces, Zoë Williams and Kinsley Anderson; aunt, Muffet Owen and husband Danny of Lerona; uncle, Glenn Hill and wife Gail of Lerona.

Lou C. Reynolds
PRINCETON — Lou C. Reynolds, 92, of Princeton Health Care and formerly of East Cumberland Road, Bluefield, W.Va., died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Princeton Health Care Center.
Born August 7, 1915 in Princeton, she was a daughter of the late Fred Hines Conner and Mary Bailey Conner. She was a resident of Bluefield since 1949. Ms. Reynolds was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bluefield where she was a member of the Bible study circle. She was a graduate of National Business College and was a member of the Bluefield Women's Club. She had been a secretary and supervisor at Bluefield Supply for 35 years. She was an avid bridge player and loved to bowl.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Reynolds was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Roscoe Ross; her second husband, Tully Graham Reynolds; sisters, Loena White, Leona Simpson, Enola DeWeese, Oletha Martin and Sylvia Smith; brothers, J. Gifford Conner, Hubert Conner and Fred Conner.
Survivors include her son, Richard C. Ross and his wife Gayle of Beaver, W.Va.; one stepson, Robert W. Ross and wife Nell of Blacksburg, Va.; one brother, Burman Conner of Bluefield, W.Va.; grandson, Bill Ross and his wife Kellie and their children Cody and Colin; granddaughter, Betsy and husband Cully and their children Conner and Ross.

Margaret Irene Sanders
ROANOKE, Va. — Margaret Irene Sanders, 95, of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Princeton, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008. Born August 15, 1912 at Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Grover Elmore and Ethel Manning Elmore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oke H. Sanders; one son, Buford T. (Buddy) Sanders; five brothers; and one sister.

(Buck) Sanders and his wife Gay of Bowling Green, Va.; four daughters, Margaret Kaye Heltsley of Manassas, Va., Ruth Ann Galate and her husband Charles of Poulan, Ga., Mary Lou Gates and her husband Bobby of Palm Coast, Fla. and Sue T. Allen and her husband Donald of Roanoke, Va. with whom she made her home for the past six years; one sister, Helen Belcher and her husband Clarence of Elyria, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. David White officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Lashmeet. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Herman Sexton
BLUEFIELD, Va. — Herman Sexton, age 87, of 108 Aden Street, Bluefield, Va., passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008 in a Princeton hospital.
Born on December 17, 1920 in Konnarock, Va., he was a son of the late Jordan Jefferson and Nannie Jane Cole Sexton. He had been a resident of Bluefield, Va. for 28 years and attended the Princeton Praise and Worship. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, served in World War II and the Korean conflict; and was a life member of the VFW Post No. 9696. He also served in the National Guard. Herman was retired from CONSOL Coal where he was a miner for 37 years and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Scott Sexton; his second wife, Ruth Hawkins Sexton; two granddaughters, Jodi and Selena; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: Wife: Agnes M. Cox Thompson Sexton of the home; sons: James H. Sexton and wife Ann of Bluefield, John Knight and wife Lil of Winchester, Va., Darrell Thompson of Springville, Va.; daughters: Shirley Sadler and husband Stacy of Bluefield, Aletha Meadows and husband Richard of Bluefield, Libby Dye and husband Lloyd of Bluefield, Va., Edna Knight of Springfield, Va., Linda Zeinalgol and husband Gol of Alexandria, Va.; 10 grandchildren including a special grandson, Dr. Phillip Ball of Vinton, Va.; six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; two sisters: Nettie Mae Blankenship of Fieldale, Va. and Ethel Finley of Jenkinjones.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. David Lusk officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell where military honors will be performed by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the Bluefield, Va. Post No. 9696 of the VFW. Lloyd Dye, Danny Finley, Jack Martin, Bobby Sigmon, Walter Kidd, Jay Hart will serve as pallbearers.

Deloris Ann Smith
MAYBEURY — Deloris Ann Smith, age 52, of Maybeury, W.Va., peacefully departed this life on Wednesday (March 19, 2008) at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. after a brief illness.
Born November 5, 1955 in Keystone, W.Va., she was the daughter of Henry Dodson of Georgia and the late Louise Smith. She attended McDowell County Schools. She was surrounded by many dear friends and acquaintances. She was a homemaker, a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, and a friend to all.
Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Smith.
“Lois,” as she will lovingly be remembered, leaves behind to cherish her precious memory: Three daughters, Sariena Smith (Victor) of the home, Tonya Smith of the home, Teresa Foster of Bluefield, W.Va.; one son, William (Amber) Foster of Princeton, W.Va.; three sisters, Henrietta (Author) Banks of Kimball, W.Va., Debra Renee Crawley of Keystone, W.Va., Sharon K. Dodson of Northfork, W.Va.; extended sisters, Betty Dodson, Doris Dodson, Deniece Dodson all of Georgia, DeChele Dodson of Bluefield, W.Va.; four brothers, Larry Dodson of Maybeury, W.Va., Isaiah (Inez) Dodson of Keystone, W.Va., David Smith of Keystone, W.Va., Darell Lamont Smith of Tennessee; grandchildren, Yolanda Smith, Shawnta Ware, Cherrelle Ware, Derick Smith, Sequoia Smith, Daryl Thomas, Kenoya Smith, Annette Smith, Desire Hightower and Malachi Foster; great-grandchild, Jamere Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Walter “Kry” Reed, Tucker Jennings, Roy Jennings, and Damien “D-Man” Jackson.
A Homegoing service will be held Tuesday (March 25, 2008) at 12:00 noon at the Miracle Mt. Carmel Holiness Church, Kimball, W.Va. with Elder Tyrone Carper officiating. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Route 20, Bluewell, W.Va. Friends may call at the church Tuesday one hour prior to services. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Margaret Davis Turner
NARROWS, Va. — Margaret Davis Turner, 75, of Narrows, passed away Friday, March 21st, 2008 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, Va.
She was born on May 1st, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Clyde Swanson and Pauline Thomas Davis. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Jackson Turner; a daughter, Jackie Wade; a granddaughter, Christina Turner; a sister, Judy Evans; and a brother, Cleveland Davis.
She attended Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church in Narrows.
She is survived by three sons, Clyde Turner and special friend Karen Guynn, Larry Turner and wife Brenda, and Jeff Turner and wife Amy; a daughter, Carolyn Kirby and husband Doug; and a son-in-law, Steve Wade, all of Narrows; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Davis of Dublin, Rufus Davis and wife Ann of Peterstown, and Bobby Davis and wife Barbara of Kernersville, N.C.; one sister, Betty Dent of Hampton, Va.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24th, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow and the Rev. Kim Jones officiating. Odessa Jones Walters
PEARISBURG, Va. — Odessa Jones Walters, 91, of Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2008 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va.
Mrs. Walters was born on April 26, 1916 in Ballard, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Pleasant (Pleas) Jones and Nannie Brooks Jones. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Elwood Walters; one brother and seven sisters.
Mrs. Walters was a member of the Pearisburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Reverend Ward Harris officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
