Prep girls: Dobbs’ monster game leads River View to first win

BRADSHAW — River View got a monster game from Chelsey Dobbs to win its first game of the season.

Dobbs scored 17 points and pulled down 28 rebounds, and also found time to snag five steals and dish out five assists to lead the Raiders to a 37-28 win over Independence on Friday night.

River View (1-4) outscored the Patriots 14-4 in the final period.

Ellamae Johnson added six points, eight rebounds and six steals, while Phyllis Waldron pulled down 11 boards to go with her four points.

Emily Fedakovic canned a trio of 3s to lead Independence (1-3) with 13 points.

River View will host Bluefield on Tuesday.

GLEN DANIEL — Shelia Hopkins scored 14 points and the Bluefield Beavers hammered Liberty.

Jessilyn Fullerton tallied 14 points, while Khadijah Brown added 11 points for Bluefield (3-2). Destiney Sims had eight points for the Beavers.

Liberty (0-5) was led by Katana Bryant and Stacey Williams with eight points apiece.

Bluefield will visit River View on Tuesday.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Chandra Harrah scored 22 points and Sarah Fleshman added 11 to lead the Wildcats past the Generals.

Montcalm (1-4) was paced by Miranda Kendrick’s 16 points and 11 from Leslie Kelley.

Montcalm will host Mercer Christian on Tuesday.

LINDSIDE — Kelsie Mann scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Mavericks past the Golden Knights.

Jordan Page added 11 points for James Monroe, which will play George Wythe in the Narrows Holiday Christmas Tournament today at 3 p.m.

Ashley Belfiore and Gezelle Brown had seven points apiece for Mount View, which lost for the first time this season.
