G-Girls win again, Mavericks top Independence

NARROWS, Va. — Bailee Poe led all scorers with 15 points as Graham defeated Narrows in Mountain Empire District action on Thursday night.

Tiffany Perdue led the Green Wave with seven points.

Graham visits Grayson County tonight, while Narrows will host Galax.

BECKLEY — Jamie Brown scored a game-high 29 points, but the Mercer Christian Lady Cavaliers fell to the Beckley Christian Crusaders.

Beka Graham led Greater Beckley with 19 points.

MCA is now 6-8 on the season, and will host New Life Academy tonight.

PILGRIM’S KNOB, Va. — Morgan Hall collected 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Golden Wave to a Black Diamond District win over the Panthers.

Savannah Charles tallied 15 points for Grundy, which held short-handed Twin Valley without a field goal in the opening 9:40 of the second half.

Kara Goodman led Twin Valley with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Brandi Rose tossed in 12 points. Twin Valley played without injured sophomore Kaitlyn Jackson.

 RICHLANDS, Va. — Carroll County remained perfect in Southwest District play with a win at Richlands. Chris Smoot led the Cavaliers with 15 points. Gabe Hunsaker was top scorer for the Blue Tornado with nine.

Richlands (3-16, 0-8) finishes regular season play Saturday at Twin Valley and begins district tournament action Monday at Tazewell. Carroll County (20-1, 8-0) concludes regular season action Friday night at Tazewell.

LINDSIDE — Garrett Mann scored 19 to lead the James Monroe Mavericks past the Independence Patriots.

Jacob McKlarney added 16 and Chord Settle 15 for the Mavs.

Independence was paced by Shane Greco with 14 points.

HINTON — T.J. Smith hit a game-winning three with 1.5 seconds left in overtime to push the Summers County Bobcats past the Liberty Raleigh Raiders. Isaiah Brown earlier hit a three with 17 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Ta’Ron Ayers had a game high 33 for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats host Independence, Saturday at 5:30 and will celebrate Senior Night.

Shannon Adams added 10 points for Twin Valley, while Cantrell had 14 rebounds and Case pulled down eight.

Dylan Billiter scored 12 points for Grundy, while Charles McCoy tallied 10 points and six assists. The Golden Wave was 5 for 27 from the field in the second half.
