Good things came in twos for the PikeView boys soccer squad on Tuesday in the Panthers’ 8-2 rout of the Nicholas County Grizzlies.
Seth Wood and Hunter Klein each had two goals and two assists, while Isaac Van Blaricom had two goals. Vaughn Campbell and Alex Testerman added one goal apiece. Alec White had two assists.
Austin Cordell and Ted White shared time in goal and combined for two saves.
PikeView (5-2-1) takes on Pocahontas County on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Gardner. The girls play at 1 p.m. after taking on Ravenswood on Thursday.
Princeton wins twice
CHARLESTON — The Princeton Senior High volleyball squad won twice in a quad match Tuesday at Capital High School.
The host team, Capital defeated Princeton 25-11, 22-25, 25-18. The Tigers bounced back against Ripley. After opening with a narrow 29-27 loss, Princeton won the other two games 25-19, 25-21. Wrapping up with Hurricane, Princeton won 25-15, 14-25, 25-19.
For Princeton, Kaleigh Barker had 27 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Erika Davis had nine kills. Taylor Hamm had 29 digs, 17 service points and eight aces. Adrianna Mitchem had 41 assists and 22 service points with nine aces. Alex Campbell had 15 digs and 13 service points with seven aces.
Princeton (4-3) plays Thursday at Oak Hill in a tri-match that includes Clay County.
Grayson Co. 3, Richlands 0
RICHLANDS, Va. — The Blue Devils swept their hosts, the Lady Blues, 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 on Tuesday evening at Richlands.
“They hit the ball really well,” said Richlands coach Ronnie Sparks about Grayson County. “But we played well against them.”
For Richlands, Mac Cordill had 29 digs, six kills and three aces. Nadia Ashiq had 22 digs. Olivia Harmon had 16 assists, and Sarah Compton had seven kills and one block.
Richlands (5-3) plays next Tuesday at Twin Valley.
PIPESTEM — Led by medalist Jared Porter and Tyler Hillyer, Princeton captured a four-school nine-hole match on Tuesday at Pipestem Resort State Park. Other schools competing were Woodrow Wilson, Oak Hill and Greenbrier East.
Porter fired a 35 and Hillyer was one shot back for Princeton, now 58-13 on the season.
Princeton’s next match is with Oak Hill on Thursday.
