Roundup: Whitlow the show as Giles romps

PEARISBURG, Va. — Brett Whitlow ran for 303 yards and scored 41 points as the Giles Spartans defeated Auburn 49-14 Friday night. Whitlow’s touchdown runs were from 16, 42, 41, 27, 58 and 18 yards.

Whitlow scored six touchdowns and kicked five extra points as the Spartans moved to 6-0 on the season and will play next week at Eastern Montgomery.

NEW RICHMOND — The PikeView Panthers spotted the eighth-ranked Warriors a 28-0 halftime lead, then put the final three touchdowns on the board to close the gap.

Chris McBride was 13 for 24 passing for 221 yards for PikeView, and Justin Hopper logged 100 receiving yards on two catches, including a late 80-yard scoring play.

Christian Hedinger caught six passes for Wyoming East — three of them for first-half touchdowns. Jacob Summe ran for 102 yards and a score.

PikeView plays at River View next Friday. The Warriors travel to Shady Spring.

CLEAR FORK — James Monroe closed to within two points of the lead in the second quarter on a pass from Reed McNeer to Josh Dransfield, but did not score again in their road loss.

Westside quarterback Justin Cogar threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and ran for a score. Mike Mullens had 170 yards rushing for the Renegades.

MEADOW BRIDGE — Jake Parker ran for three touchdowns (14, 2, 16) and 235 yards to pace the Wildcats.

Jamari Perry had an interception and an 80-yard kickoff return for a Mount VIew score, and Donnell Bonds ran for a 10-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Craig Peters ran for 86 yards and scored a touchdown for Meadow Bridge. Peyton Richmond led the defense with 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception.

The Golden Knights visit James Monroe next Friday. Meadow Bridge, ranked 13th this week in Class A, will travel to Class AA No. 6 Summers County.

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. — Tri-Cities Christian scored 21 fourth quarter points to pull away from Montcalm.

Evan Blankenship led Tri-Cities Christian with 154 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Antonio Miller added 125 and a score as well. Tri-Cities finished with 361 yards on offense, including 348 on the ground.

Montcalm (1-6) received a pair of touchdown runs from 18 and nine yards by Dakota Lanter.

The Generals will hold its final home game of the season next Friday against Midland Trail.
