Bearcats run past Tornado; Princeton beaten

ABINGDON, Va. — Richlands ran into a hot pitcher in their final game of the Southwest District Tournament on Saturday in Abingdon.

Austin Daniels pitched a perfect game for Virginia High through three innings, then was taken out for a reliever in a 16-1 win by the Bearcats over Richlands (1-2).

Jay Harrison drove in the Blue Tornado’s only run with a double in the fourth, and Jordan Lee added a single.

Daniels had two hits and two RBI for Virginia High (3-0). Others with two hits were Chandler Davis, Alex Griffith and Austin Miles. The Bearcats claimed the tournament crown, defeating Abingdon 4-3.

Richlands plays Monday night at Princeton.

ST. ALBANS — The St. Albans Red Dragons defeated the Princeton Tigers 11-1 Saturday in Mountain State Athletic Conference baseball action. No further details were available.
